L.A.M.B. Shoes

American singer-songwriter and fashion designer Gwen Stefani is, in her own words, someone for whom fashion is an extension of her own personality. Owner of a very personal style where her natural elegance goes hand in hand with high doses of eclecticism, Gwen Stefani has always been a trendsetter and a style icon. The versatile diva always had a foot in the fashion design world and sewed many of her clothes from an early age, following the path of her mother and former seamstress women in her family. During the early years as a lead vocalist of No Doubt she designed and made most of the clothing worn onstage in concerts, delighting with her stylish outfits an increasing number of fans around the world who keep up with Gwen's tendencies.
It came as no surprise that in 2003 Gwen got her feet wet and created L.A.M.B., a fashion line that saw the light the following year, in 2004 when it made a successful debut on the runway. "Music and fashion, it all comes from the same place of creativity", she says explaining the grounds for her fashion career.
As most people know, L.A.M.B. is an acronym of "Love, Angel, Music, Baby", that was by no coincidence Gwen's solo debut album. Love, Angel, Music and Baby are also the names of the four popular dancers who accompany Gwen on her music performances. They are also known as the Harajuku Girls and became the inspiration for the Japanese techno-pop novelty fashion line Harajuku Lovers, but that's another matter altogether.
Since its first walk along the runways in 2004, L.A.M.B. has achieved a mainstream success and this fashion line experienced a fast and continuous growth. To the original L.A.M.B. clothing line were added L.A.M.B. handbags, L.A.M.B. watches, L.A.M.B. fragrances and L.A.M.B. shoes to cover every nook and cranny of the fashion world.
Gwen herself is the Creative Director of all the L.A.M.B: collections, and likes to oversee every detail without dropping a stitch. The philosophy that drives L.A.M.B. collections can be summarized as "made with love" and attention to every detail.
When Stefani decided to launch L.A.M.B. shoes many big footwear companies tried to collaborate with her, Adidas-Salomon AG, Nike Inc., Reebok International Ltd. all vied for Gwen's attention. Surprisingly, or maybe not so much when having in mind her well-known rocker edge, she rejected all the big fish to go with Royal Elastics, a subsidiary of K-Swiss Inc. that stayed below the radar until its partnership with Stefani. Royal Elastic, originally an Australian company, mainly creates slip-on unlaced sneakers especially designed for skateboarders, with whom they are very popular.
The first L.A.M.B. shoe collection included four versions of sneakers for women, named (surprise!) Love, Angel, Music and Baby. These four original versions were available in black, white and gold. Originally, the Angel version, being the most simple and less overwhelming, became the most popular. The debut of the L.A.M.B. shoe collection was strategically made in Kitson, a store located in Robertson Boulevard that has many Hollywood personalities among its regular costumers.
Nowadays, L.A.M.B. shoes are sold at high-end boutiques and department stores throughout the country, like Bloomingdale's, Saks and Nordstrom and can also be found worldwide, including Japan and Hong Kong. Since the end of 2005, L.A.M.B. shoes are included with men's sneaker collections and, more recently, the cutest baby shoe lines and a surprising and luxurious variety of stilettos, sandals, boots, flats and pumps.
